You probably already knew. Two posts, one month each and then this one which has 3 months of delay. God damn. I'll try to use it for big posts but I doubt I'll remember...
I know, I know. I've built a blog just to... abandon it, probably? Me neither. I had nothing to talk about since I'm a genuinely boring person. I judged Nerimity and Discord and then I just vanished. Weird behavior. I find it sketchy aswell, no need to side-eye me.
So now, I use Mastodon, no guesses, it made sense. It's a sort of open-source, decentralized Twitter/Bluesky. It works the same, but with some bonuses.
For example, I'm just gonna explain what's decentralization in a very crude and rough way. A centralized application is an application that depends of only one infrastructure, only one server.
Decentralization promotes the fact that anyone can make their own infrastructure server, which then they can then communicate to other infrastructures. And by infrastructure, it could be literally that one Intel Atom laptop you have in your garage. Not joking.
You install Linux on it, you slap Docker and install a Mastodon backend instance, you configure both your rooter to port forward it correctly then the instance to proprely get the IP, and you're good.
For the domain part, you can just grab some free subdomain somewhere. It's often free.
OR you can just use the server of someone else. Literally. That's what I'm doing.
You create an account then boom. Here you go.
And I rather post short text and some pic without having to obligatory make a wall of text. Because it's a blog, it must be interesting, and precise. I can't just put "hello" and some dumbass Tenor GIF with a waving emoji and call it a blog post.
